FocusTime Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-11-01
FocusTime helps you understand and limit the time you spend on websites.
What FocusTime stores
- The domains (sites) you visit, such as
youtube.com, and how long you are active on each. - Per-hour totals, visit (session) start and end times, and what ended each visit (for example a tab switch).
- Your settings, limits, categories, and a log of limit events and "One more minute" requests.
FocusTime does not store full URLs, page titles, page content, or anything you type on websites.
Where it is stored
Everything is stored locally on your device using Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local).
- No data is sent anywhere. FocusTime makes no network requests.
- There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no remote code and no third-party services.
- Your data is never sold or transferred.
Incognito
Chrome does not run extensions in incognito windows unless you turn on "Allow in Incognito" for FocusTime.
If you do, incognito browsing is tracked and stored in the same way as normal browsing, and counts toward your limits.
Your control
- Export all of your data as JSON or CSV from Settings → Data.
- Clear history deletes all days before today. Uninstalling FocusTime deletes all of its data.
- Choose a retention period (forever, 1 year or 90 days) in Settings.
